There are two sections to this website which require password access. One section functions as a distribution network for documents Active Participants wish to circulate amongst themselves. The other is a discussion forum, and access is only permitted to those interested in that particular discussion.

The Private site
This looks exactly the same as the public website, but has access to more documents. It is accessed from www.loggingoff.info/private

The Discussion Boards
This uses bulletin-board software. Anyone wishing to start a discussion (or a new joint NGO statement, for example) may request a new 'forum' or 'thread'. They will then manage that forum, giving individual Active Participants different levels of access to either read, comment, or upload their own draft documents. This site is at www.loggingoff.info/forum

How to register as an Active Participant
The registration process involves the following five steps:

• Email a co-manager and ask for a membership application form. (If you do not know any of the co-managers, please contact the site administrator at iola@fern.org or im@globalwitness.org)
  
• The co-manager will also send you a copy of the Terms and Conditions of becoming an Active Participant.
• Complete and return the form to the co-manager by email. By doing this, you are accepting the Terms and Conditions.
• The co-manager will endorse your application, and forward it to the site administrator. The co-manager who endorses your application will also discuss with you which discussion boards (or which themes / countries which might generate future discussion boards) you might require.
• The site administrator will issue you with a password for the private site, and any necessary passwords for the discussion boards.
